Specimen Collection and Handling
Both serum and urine are required for this test (see below):
SERUM/PLASMA:
1. Spin specimen, separate from clot and send refrigerated. Label specimen appropriately (serum).
2. Serum specimen must be drawn within 24 hours of start or completion of urine collection
URINE:
1. No preservative preferred; HCL, Acetic Acid, Boric Acid, Sodium Carbonate are acceptable. Refrigerate specimen during collection.
2. Prior to aliquoting sample during processing, mix specimen well and record volume and any urine preservative information.
3. Label specimen appropriately (urine) and send refrigerated.
