Useful For

Infertility studies includes volume, viscosity, pH, % motility, count, viability, and morphology (viability is only performed if motility is less than the reference range)

Method Name

The primary method for Motility and Sperm Concentration is automated utilizing the SQA- Vision (SQA). The MES SQA-Vision is a high-performance analytical medical device that combines optoelectronics, computer algorithms, and video microscopy for analysis. Back up method will be manual via Light Microscopy.

All other parameters of the SEMEF is manual with some portions via Light Microscopy.

Volume must be at least 0.8 mL to ensure proper processing.

Specimen Collection and Handling

1. To ensure the most viable semen specimen, semen collections are to be done at the NorDx 100 West Campus Drive Patient Service Center (PSC) in Scarborough.

2. Hours for collection of semen specimens are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. by scheduled appointment.

3. Private and clean spaces as well as collection instructions are available to patients who present to produce a semen specimen.

4. Collection instructions and container will be provided at the PSC.
