Specimen Collection and Handling
1. Collect stool in a clean, dry container free of detergent residue.
2. Do not dilute the stool specimen.
3. Place in a screw-capped, sterile container in a tightly sealing plastic bag and forward promptly.
4. A specimen obtained from a diaper is acceptable if it is transferred promptly to a screw-capped, sterile container for transport to the laboratory.
5. Send specimen refrigerated.
