Organisms included in assay: Acinetobacter spp.; Citrobacter spp.; Enterobacter spp.; Escherichieae spp.; Klebsiella oxytoca; Klebsiella pneumoniae; Proteus spp.; Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Resistance markers included in assay: CTX-M; KPC; NDM; OXA; VIM; IMP.

LIMITATIONS: The following results may have the indicated limitations:

1.In mixed cultures containing gram-negative bacteria and other organisms, BC-GN may not identify all the detectable organisms in the specimen.

There is a risk of false negative or false positive results due to sequence variants in the bacterial targets of the assay.

2.The assay detects the presence of the CTX-M, KPC, NDM, VIM, IMP and/or OXA gene(s) in a specimen, but does not determine which organism present in the specimen contains the gene.

3.BC-GN will not distinguish Escherichia coli from Shigella spp. Including S. dysenteriae, S. flexneri, S. boydii, and S. sonnei.

4. BC-GN will not detect OXA 51.

5. Serratia marcescens may yield a false negative result with BC-GN, as demonstrated during analytical and clinical study testing.

6. BC-GN may not yield an “OXA Detected” result when Acinetobacter spp are detected.

A trained health care professional should interpret assay results together with a patient’s medical history, clinical signs and symptoms, and the results of other diagnostic tests.
