Specimen Collection and Handling

1. Follow Collection and Application directions on the Hemoccult Slide.

2. Do not develop test. Submit undeveloped slide at Room Temperature.

3. Slide must be received in Laboratory within 14 days of collection.

4. Patient should be instructed to avoid Non Steroidal Anti-inflammatory medication (Asprin, Ibuprofen, or Naproxin), and Vitamin C supplements for 7 days prior to testing.

5. Acetaminophen and Iron Supplements are NOT expected to affect test results.

6. Patient should avoid ingesting red meat (beef, lamb, or liver) for 3 days prior to testing.
