Specimen Collection and Handling

1. No preservative

2. Sampling time is pre-shift (meaning 16 hours without exposure).

3. Random Collection: Collect random urine and maintain specimen at room temperature.

24 Hour Collection:

1. Instruct patient to void at 8:00 a.m. and discard the specimen.

2. Collect all urine including the final specimen voided at the end of the 24-hour collection period.

3. Maintain specimen at room temperature.

4. Request form must state 24-hour collection volume, if applicable.
