Specimen Collection and Handling
DERMAL, GENITAL, THROAT, and ORAL Specimens:
1. Collect specimen from the affected site using the swab provided with universal transport medium.
2. Calcium alginate-tipped swab or transport swab containing gel is not acceptable for PCR testing.
3. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at refrigerated temperature.
4. SPECIMEN SOURCE IS REQUIRED ON REQUEST FORM FOR PROCESSING.
