Useful For
Identifying the Hepatitis C Virus genotype in patients known to have active HCV infection.
Clinical progression can be genotype-dependent and differ with regard to disease severity and response to treatment. HCV genotype designation can be used to guide treatment duration and predict the possible success of viral therapies.
HCV Viral Load must have been performed within the last 14 days with results ≥ 2,000 IU/mL.
Method Name
Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) followed by Pyrosequencing
This assay is a lab developed test established by the NorDx Molecular Pathology Laboratory. This laboratory is certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) as qualified to perform high complexity clinical laboratory testing. This test is used for clinical purposes. It should not be regarded as investigational or for research.
