Useful For
Quantifying HBV DNA in the serum of patients with chronic HBV infection; monitoring progression of chronic HBV infection and/or response to anti-HBV therapy
This assay should not be used for initial evaluation of patients with HBV infection. Laboratory evaluation of HBV status should begin with HBV serological marker tests.
Method Name
TMA (Transcription Mediated Amplification)
Reference Values
Undetected
(positive results with the comment, “HBV DNA detected, but less than 10 IU/mL", indicate that HBV DNA is present but at a level below the quantifiable range of this assay.)
When clinically indicated, follow-up testing by this assay is recommended in 1 to 3 months.
The quantification range of this test is 10 to 1,000,000,000 IU/mL
