1. Aseptically swab endocervix (use speculum to visualize cervix) urethra, rectum, throat, or neonatal conjunctiva.
2. Submit swab in a culture transport media tube.
3. Label tube with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth or medical record number, date and time of collection, collector’s initials and specimen source.
To Process:
1. Send at ambient temperature.
2. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
3. Specimen source is required on request form for processing.
