Test Code ETGWC ETHYL GLUCURONIDE, URINE WITH CONFIRMATION REFLEX
Performing Laboratory
NorDx Laboratories
Useful For
A screening assay to detect Ethyl Glucuronide in urine.
If the Ethyl Glucuronide screen is ≥ 500 ng/mL, the Ethyl Glucuronide confirmation/quantitation by LC-MC/MS is performed at an additional charge.
For help with interpretation please call: 877-323-0045
Specific gravity, pH, creatinine and oxidants will be performed and reported at no additional charge to identify potential adulteration of the urine specimen

Advance Beneficiary Notice Requirements
This test, when ordered on Medicare patients, is subject to the National Coverage Determination (NCD) policies. Please verify that the diagnosis code (ICD code) you have chosen demonstrates medical necessity for the test as documented in the physician’s patient record. The CMS web site is available to assist you with this verification. A properly executed Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) must be submitted with the specimen if medical necessity is not demonstrated by the ICD code chosen.

Clinical Significance
Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) is a direct metabolite of ethanol, which is formed by enzymatic conjugation of ethanol with glucuronic acid. Alcohol in urine is normally detected for only a few hours, where as EtG can be detected up to several days even after complete elimination of alcohol from the body. A value that is equal to 500 ng/ml or greater is considered a positive screen result.
This test is intended for clinical monitoring and management of patients. It is not intended for non-medical use such as employment of forensic testing.
