Detection of Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrheae in extragenital (oral/rectal) specimens
Please note: The performance of the gonorrhea and chlamydia nucleic acid amplification assay has not been evaluated in adolescents younger than 14 years of age and is not intended for the evaluation of suspected sexual abuse or other medicolegal purposes. In circumstances where a false-positive result may have adverse psychosocial impact, CDC guidelines recommend repeat testing.

Specimen Collection and Handling
1. Swab site using Aptima® Multitest Swab Specimen Collection Kit.
2. Place swab in transport tube provided in kit and carefully break off swab at score line so swab fits in closed tube.
3. Tightly screw the cap onto the tube and transport the swab to the laboratory refrigerated or at room temperature.
