This test is used for carrier screening for cystic fibrosis by full gene sequencing and deletion/duplication analysis. Variants of uncertain significance are not included.

Next-generation sequencing: Identifies genetic variants, including small nucleotide variants (SNVs), insertions, deletions and copy number variants (CNVs).

Analytic time for send out tests is the time it will take to perform testing once it has arrived at the performing reference lab. Please add 1 to 2 days from time of collection to allow for receipt at NorDx central lab and shipment of specimen, add another day if specimen is collected on the day before a weekend or holiday.

Specimen Collection and Handling

1. Draw 4 mL whole blood in Lavender-top tube (EDTA) tube or submit LabCorp buccal swab kit (buccal swab collection kit contains instructions for use of a buccal swab).

2. Whole blood tube should be sent to the lab unopened at room temperature.

3. It is preferable not to perform additional testing on original tubes prior to PCR testing.
